 Just heard from the Umakanth (J1) that Medico-Dento camp was a successful event.

Principal and student informed that the event was very useful and informative.

 Dr.Rajanaik B.H (J1, Dentist),  Dr Manjanaik ( J9-BAMS), Dr Sreenivas Masur (J3-Paeditrician) and his wife Dr.Poornima  JNV Dharwad(BAMS)and  Dr Gururaj(J4-Dentist) guided the student and distributed free brushes and Medicines to school.

 Umakanth(J1) and L.R.Arun(J1) Co-ordinated the whole event ( as compunders?  J )

After multiple rounds of brainstorming, we have come up with the following list of activities that should be taken up in the next calendar year.  Please feel free to contact me or the team if you would like to contribute to any of these activities.  It is still marked as draft, please let me know if you would like changes/additions in any of these activities.  You are welcome to suggest/volunteer a new activity.

Draft Plan for Silver Jubilee Celebrations (Jan 2011 to Nov 2011):

Activity 1: Networking

• Team: Ravindra J11, Rahul J3
• Goal: Build a strong alumni network and promore coaching and mentoring
• Responsibilities:
• Alumni Demographics Collection
• Connect mentors and mentees
• Nourish and sustain the mentor network
• Promote mentoring between alumni and students

Activity 2: Documentary on Journey of JNVG

• Team: Ravindra J11, Jagdeesh J9
• Goal: Create a video documentary on achievements of JNVG and Alumni.
• Responsibilities:
• Script, Footage, Editing, etc.

Activity 3: Green Campus

• Team: Sunil J7
• Goal: Promote environment friendly practices at JNVG.
• Responsibilities:
• Take care of logistics for plantation
• Promote recycling
• Seek opportunities for of Water and Energy conservation
• Promote alternative sources of energy

Activity 4: Circle-of-Influence

• Team: Mani J13, Rudraswamy J7, Venkatesh J3
• Goal: Improve education and standard of life in schools and villages near JNVG
• Responsibilities:
• Use JNVG's resources to bring up schools in the vicinity of JNVG
• Organize street plays on social issues
• Host medical camps
• Train the Teacher - Improve education standard in nearby schools by training the teachers

Activity 5: Memoirs

• Team: Prasad J11
• Goal: Create awareness of alumni activities in JNVG
• Responsibilities:
• Showcase achievements in school using poster, collage, etc.

Activity 6: Bonding

• Team: Preetham J11, Guru J3
• Goal: Improve bonding between alumni members
• Responsibilities:
• Host social events
• Host sports events
• Create merchandise that alumni can wear, display at offices or on vehicles, etc.

Activity 7: Facilitiating ex-Teachers

• Team: Rahul J3
• Goal: Establish contacts with ex-JNVG teachers and facilitate them at Alumni meet on Dec 2011.
• Responsibilities:
• Establish contacts
• Create fan clubs
• Facilitation on Dec 2010.

Activity 8: Improvement of Computer Infrastructure

• Team: Amar J8
• Goal: Ensure students have access to computers and internet
• Responsibilities:
• Improve TCO (total-cost-of-owernship) of the Computer Lab at JNVG
• Improve reliability of Systems and Internet
• Create a conductive learning environment

Activity 9: Eliminate Dropouts

• Team: Rahul J3
• Goal: Ensure students don't drop out of JNVG before Class 12
• Responsibilities:
• Understand why students drop out of JNVG
• Identify issues and take corrective measures

• Alumni x Selected students - Review and collect feedback on Alumni Activities
• Alumni x Parents Teachers Association Members - Review and collect feedback on Alumni Activities
• Coaching and Mentoring: 1x1 with some students and Alumni. Staff will prepare a list of students.

2:30 PM - 6:00 PM - Sports / Interaction (SPOC: Ravindra J11 and other J11 alumni)

• Volley Ball, Cricket
• Other games where everyone can participate

6:00 PM - 8:30 PM - Networking

10:00 PM - 12:00 PM - Walkathon, Campfire, Interaction, etc. (SPOC: Mahadev J12)

Dec 5, 2010:

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM - Plantation of Trees

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Alumni Meet (SPOC: Ravi Sir, Principal)

2:30 PM - 4:00 PM - Announcement and review of plan for Silver Jubilee Celebrations (SPOC: Venkatesh J3)

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM - Networking

Action Items:

1. Accomodation and food can be arranged for the night of Dec 4, 2010. We have to confirm the exact numbers to Ravi sir.
2. Decide on lighting and public address system for outdoor events
3. Get about 500 Car/Bike stickers ready for distribution to Alumni

There are a few other things planned, which will be carried out in parallel:

1. LAB Setup: Setting up ubuntu in the lab
